Man indicted in 2016 deadly DUI crash on I-65

A Calera man has been indicted in a 2016 fiery DUI crash on Interstate 65 that killed another man.

A Shelby County grand jury issued the reckless murder indictment again Daniel Joseph Robinson on Aug. 18, according to court records made public Monday. Robinson, 30, also is charged with DUI and has been out on bond since September 2016.

He is charged in the Aug. 5, 2016 crash that killed 43-year-old Robert Alan Gentry. The crash happened at 11:50 p.m. on I-65 one mile south of Alabaster, authorities said.

Woman, 49, charged in afternoon DUI crash that hurt 2 construction workers, 2 others

A 49-year-old Chelsea woman faces five felony charges after an apparent DUI crash that injured five people, including two construction workers.

The crash happened about 3 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of U.S. 280 east and County Road 39. The construction workers were hit, and two people inside of the involved vehicles also were injured in addition to the suspect.

All of the victims were taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Denita Cameron was arrested Friday and charged with two counts of first-degree assault and three counts of second-degree assault, all felonies, court records show, said Senior Trooper Chuck Daniel. She was also charged with DUI. Court records indicate she was fleeing from police at the time of the accident.
